The chips were made for the son of Joseph Pulitzer the patriarch (who died on his yacht Liberty in 1911). Joseph Pulitzer, II was born in 1885 and died in 1955 (his son Joseph, III was born 1913). In 1924 Pulitzer launched a boat made for him to be used at Bar Harbor: the Discoverer. |
